Marathon or 'No EZR' Configuration
This section does not contain specific preferences. The settings are defined based on specific site preferences during QwickServe infrastructure setup.
Marathon-branded sites have utilized a different connection type with all Commanders since their release. In Marathon networks, payment processing is not handled by the Cybera Enhanced Zone Router. This means that the back-office zone does not exist as a standalone subnet and is integrated with the existing Verifone network.
EZR refers to a typical Verifone firewall that has been provided by Verifone with Commander — the Cybera Enhanced Zone Router.
Marathon considers the back-office port to be port 5 of the Cybera EZR. Marathon connections with Commanders are the only occurrence known in which back-office and QwickServe devices plug directly into local ports of the EZR. There is no DNS resolution in the Verifone zone (192.168.31.0).
It is becoming more popular for other brands and specific firewall companies to configure a POS network in this manner while at the same time removing the EZR completely.
This configuration simply means that the site is either branded Marathon or does not contain the Cybera Zone Router and therefore payment processing is handled in an external subnet. In these cases, back-office and QwickServe devices can directly communicate with the Verifone zone where the target IP for the POS equipment will be the local address of the Commander POS — 192.168.31.11.
