Firewall Device: BP (Mako 6500, Hughes HR4700 or Fortigate)

This section provides only basic settings and steps required for QwickServe infrastructure configuration. For detailed information about the site configuration, refer to BP Commander Network Configuration Manual that can be obtained from BP technicians.

In all configurations, QwickServe and DC-401 devices must be connected to the back-office VLAN of the firewall device. In this case, it is LAN 3 port of the firewall device that serves the VLAN 4 store network.

BP-branded sites vary in the exact firewall device utilized. However, only specific devices are approved. The port number will always be LAN3 on the firewall regardless of the exact model.

The following firewall devices can be used at BP sites:

  • Mako 6500 (most common)
  • Hughes HR4700
  • Fortigate

LAN3 supplies the Internet to devices connected to LAN 3 port when the devices are using DNS servers provided by BP.

A switch can be installed in LAN3 to extend the number of connected devices and provide the manager's computer with the Internet access and a safe route to Verifone Commander.
