Setting Parent-Child Relationship Between Items
For the wholesale purchases/sales, the smallest items (for example, Coca Cola 250 ml) are grouped and packed into a larger container (case or box). This larger container gets the GTIN. The direct connection between this larger container and smaller items is expressed by the number of these items within a larger container. This connection is called the parent-child relationship.
In CStoreOffice®, the parent-child relationship has three main parameters:
- GTIN of the parent item
- GTIN of the child item
- The number of child items within the parent item (the number of smaller items within the larger container)
If the item has a child item, when its retail is taken to inventory, it automatically equals to the total retail of its child items.
There are two ways to set up the parent-child relationship between items:
When a parent-child relationship between items is set up, you can perform the following procedures:
To learn what other actions can be performed in the Price Book Visualizer, which displays the parent-child relationships between items, see Working with the Price Book Visualizer.
