Selecting Optimal Vendor for Order
Whether you create a new order or review a projected order, Fuel Central provides you with a comparison of prices offered by vendors available for the location where the order must be delivered. This feature helps you to determine the optimal vendor for the order and also automatically fill in the vendor, terminal, product, and price information on the Order form.
The price list includes all products that are associated with the current location (in the Ship To settings); and all vendors of these products at the fuel terminals associated with the location.
How to use this tool
- Open Dispatchers > Order.
- On the Order form, click Price in the bottom-left corner of the page.
- Review the price list and the bar chart.
- Double-click the row of the product that you want to include in the order. Repeat it for another product type if necessary.
- Click Price to hide the price list.
The Vendor and Terminal boxes above the time scale and product and price information below the time scale are filled in with data according to your product selection.
Understanding Price List and Bar Chart
When you open the price list, at the top of it you can see a bar chart presenting prices by different vendors on product type "regular", so that you could compare the prices at a glance and identify the vendor with the best price.
- Horizontal axis and its labels represent vendors.
- Vertical axis and its labels represent the price in dollars for one gallon of product with type "regular".
Below the bar chart is the detailed price list. The list contains vendors, then the terminals for each vendor, and products with prices on each terminal.
For every product, the following price information is presented.
Field | Description |
---|---|
Rack Price |
Publicly quoted wholesale price for the product at a specific terminal from a specific vendor. |
Transportation |
Estimated cost of transporting the product from the terminal to the location. It is a set amount that varies from one place to another. |
Margin |
Distribution margin that represents the difference between the rack price and the acquisition cost at the location. |
Total |
Sum of rack price, transportation, and margin. |
