DC Box Activation and Configuration
DC-401 device is no longer available for purchase. It has been replaced by DC-420, which offers the same features and functionality. Since both models are identical from the user experience and UI part, they will be collectively referred to as the DC-400 series.
Do the following:
- Check the network connection.
- Check if DC-400 series device is powered on.
If everything is OK, hold the power button on DC-400 series device for 3 seconds and try again.
Check the password you are entering. Pay attention to uppercase letters that the password contains.
Optionally, you can try to access the DC-400 series device console utility. For details, see DC-400 Series Console Utility.
Check the license key you are entering. Pay attention to the following:
- Make sure you avoid confusion between characters:
- '1' (numeral) may look as 'I' (capital letter i).
- '0' (zero) may look as 'O' (capital letter o) and so on.
- The license key must be entered with dashes between digit groups.
Do the following:
- Check if the Internet connection is available.
- Check if the license key you are entering is correct. For details, see I can't activate DC-400 Series Device. The license key is incorrect.
If you still face a problem, try to activate DC-400 series device using the account with the owner permissions.
If you are following the QwickServe Quick Start Guide and want to configure the POS connection, you can set up the POS right away. To do this, follow the instructions listed in step 5.4 of the QwickServe Quick Start Guide. After that, when you continue with the guide and get to section 5, you need to skip steps 5.1 - 5.4 of the procedure and proceed immediately to step 5.5.
Do the following:
- Check the wiring. DC-400 series device must be connected to the router as described in step 1 of the QwickServe Quick Start Guide: the cable must be plugged in to the WAN port on DC-400 series device and LAN port on the router.
- Check if the Internet connection is available. To do this, connect a laptop to the LAN port on DC-400 series device. If the Internet connection is available on the laptop but is still missing on DC-400 series device, call Petrosoft Support Team.
Otherwise, if the Internet connection is also missing on the laptop, follow the instructions in the manual for your router to configure the connection.
Check if DC-400 series device has Wi-Fi antennas. If not, you seem to have an old hardware version, and DC-400 series device must be activated through a wire connection. To do this, connect the network cable from any device in the network to the LAN port on the DC Box and use a browser to activate the DC Box. For example, you can activate the DC Box from the QwickServe Order Manager or QwickServe Ordering Terminal devices in your network using the browser installed on these devices.
If Wi-Fi antennas are present, it's most common that DC-400 series device deactivates its access point after 15 minutes of inactivity for security reasons. You can reboot the device or follow the instructions on how to re-activate the DC-400 series device access point in the DC Box Activation Guide.
Yes, you can go without the DC Box. QwickServe can communicate with the POS directly.
Note, however, that in the QwickServe infrastructure, DC-400 series device is a main gateway between QwickServe devices and the rest of the world. It provides all required network functionality and allows QwickServe devices to communicate with the POS. If you do not configure the POS settings, most of the back-office functions will not be available, and we cannot guarantee stable QwickServe functioning.
You have a previous version of the DC Box that has incorrect labels for connection ports. Put the DC Box where it will be used, with the ports facing you. The ports positioning itself is the same as depicted in the diagram.
Use the cables to connect the devices according to the scheme in the diagram in the QwickServe Quick Start Guide.
