Entering Stick Reading Data

You can enter stick reading information in the Fuel Inventory form.

You should have a Veeder Root print out from the close of the shift for the previous day. The Volume equals Stick Reading, and Height equals Inches. You do not need to enter the inches, this is your preference. But you must enter the volume.

To enter stick reading data:

  1. In the Manager's Daily Workflow, move to the Stick reading entry step.
  2. In the left menu of the Data Entry form, select Fuel Inventory.
  3. At the top right corner of the form, click Edit.
  4. In the Today‘s ending stick reading column, enter the stick reading data for each tank.
  5. At the top right corner of the form, click Save.

If the automatic tank gauge (ATG) is connected, daily stick readings are auto-populated in the shift reports and today's ending stick readings page. If a stick reading is missing for a previous day, click Edit and manually enter the correct values for each fuel grade, then save. The ending stick reading of one day is used as the opening balance for the next day. Book inventory is calculated as opening balance plus purchases minus sales, and the system calculates an over/short for the day based on the stick readings. You can enter stick reading in inches water level if desired, but this does not affect gallons or inventory calculations. Regularly verify that the auto-populated data matches your actual readings to ensure accuracy.

Once entered, the stick reading data will appear in the fuel reports page. You can also enter stick readings directly in the report page, which will redirect you to the entry screen, bypassing some steps.
