SmartPOS April/2017

This section contains the information on the POS software and hardware new features and changes in scope of the release version - April/2017.

Main Cashier's Workspace

Changed		Improvement made to the Refund feature. It is now possible to refund any items manually without selecting the corresponding transaction in the History tab.
Changed		Several improvements made to the receipt printed form: - Receipt includes now the cashier name and price per gallon. - 'Reversal' is printed at the top and in the total instead of 'Refund' if the receipt transaction contains the card reversal MOPs only.
Changed		Improvement made to the way the shift data are sending from SmartPOS to the Petrosoft Cloud. Currently the vendor pay outs are also included into the Shift report.

Settings

New

A new 'Error Correction' user permission has been added that allows a cashier to remove the last item from the order.

QwickServe/Restaurant/Embedded

Changed

Improvement made to the way the QwickServe orders are processed on SmartPOS. The new 'Void QS Order' permission has been added that allows the cashier to cancel the QwickServe orders.

Hardware

New		A new feature has been implemented. It is now possible to organize several cashier workplaces in one store based on SmartPOS cash registers integrated in one network. The Price Book and other relevant data are synchronized between all registers on the network.
New		A new feature has been added. It is now possible to connect the SmartPOS device to the Advantex Wireless 2400 scanner.

SmartPOS 2.8-2.9

This section contains the information on the POS software and hardware new features and changes in scope of the release versions - 2.8 and 2.9

Main Cashier's Workspace

New		A new feature has been implemented. Currently cashier can authorize a user in the loyalty program by entering his phone number via SmartPOS PIN pad.
New		Improvement made to the order of the receipts printing. Currently the customer bill and receipt go first, followed by the merchant bill and receipt.
Changed		Improvement made to the Pay Point reports for users with the Waiter role. Currently the Pay Point report is printed when waiter is finalizing a pay point. The following data has been added to the printed waiter's Pay Point reports: Tips By Card, Cash Due, AVG Sales, AVG Card Tip.
Changed		Minor improvements made to the cashier's screen: - The "Total Due With Tips" row has been added under the "Total Due" row at the items queue. - The "Tips" row has been moved from the "Sub Total" list.
Changed		Minor usability improvement made to the cashier's screen. Currently when PIN pad is waiting for the client's signature, it shows the corresponding notification at the cashier's screen.
Changed		Minor usability improvements made to the confirmation dialogs at the cashier's screen. The dialog's size was adjusted to fit the confirmation text. The dialog is now closed automatically, if no button is pressed within 10 seconds.

Improvement made to the Credit MOP. For the locations not working with debit transactions, it is now possible to configure SmartPOS for processing non-cash payments as the credit transactions only.

QwickServe/Restaurant/Embedded

New		The network printers are now supported for QwickServe Embedded at Settings > Devices. The StarMicro SmartPOS model of the network printer can be configured to print the kitchen tickets only.
Changed		It is now possible perform the void and cancel operations with QwickServe Embedded orders at the SmartPOS cashier's screen.

Hardware

Changed

A new feature has been added. It is now possible to use the VFD customer display that shows the following information to clients: last item added to the transaction, the last item price, the total amount of transactions.

Price Book Screen

Changed

Improvements made to the Price Book and Settings screens to optimize the data setting up and managing processes. The screens have been redesigned in the following way:
- User's settings are now grouped into two menus at the Settings > Users > Add/Edit User screens.
- The Games tab has been moved from the Price Book screen to the Lottery Inventory module.
- The Receipt Settings tab has been moved to the POS Settings tab at the Receipt Settings menu.

Settings

New		A new feature has been added at the System Settings tab. It is now possible to refresh the status of all the plugged devices, by pressing the "Devices" button.
Changed		Improvement made to the "Login timeout" option at the System Settings tab. Currently the user may stay logged in all the time on condition there are no activity on the device.
Changed		Improvements made to the MOP settings: - The Create MOP and Edit MOP screens have been redesigned for usability purposes. - The Enable Secondary PIN Pad option has been renamed to Enable External EBT.
Changed		It is now possible to turn on and off the Inventory module at the CStoreOffice® side.
Changed		It is now possible to turn on or turn off the void receipts printing, when a transaction is canceled.

Video Journal

Changed

Improvement made to the PJR files format for the events with item or department transactions. Currently the events include also the date and time of adding the item or the department to the transaction.

Other

New		A new feature has been added. It is now possible to use the ads images of different sizes depending on the SmartPOS display resolution. The ads images are uploaded at the CStoreOffice® side.
Changed		Minor improvement made to the process of lottery games selling. Currently the number of remaining lottery tickets is displayed in the "Status" field at the Games > Edit game screen. When all the lottery tickets are sold out, the "Status" field displays the number of sold out tickets.
Changed		Improvement made to the SmartPOS activation procedure. Currently user needs to read and accept the license agreement for the product activation. License agreement is now also available at the Settings tab. When activating the product, user can now also turn on or turn off sending the SmartPOS performance statistics and/or daily data backups to CStoreOffice®.
Changed		The information about VAT tax is now displayed in the following documents: - In the Day and Shift reports sent to CStoreOffice®. The information is displayed only in the Tax Collection Summary section, but not included into the total amount for this section. - In the receipts under the Total section.
Changed		The new Postponed Transactions report has been implemented at the Reports. The report contains the postponed void transactions for Non Cash MOPs or other transactions postponed due to the PIN pad errors.

SmartPOS 2.7

This section contains the information on the POS software and hardware new features and changes in scope of the current release version - 2.7

Main Cashier's Workspace

Changed		Improvement made to the split tender transactions. It is now possible to pay one part of the purchase via House Account MOP and use Credit Card, Cash or other MOP to pay the rest of the amount.
Changed		Improvement made to the process of modules activation / deactivation. Currently the modules switching on the back-office side take only effect in SmartPOS after the shift change.
Changed		Improvement made to the refund process. It is now possible to search an item for refund by both its PLU and UPC.

Restaurant

New		A new Advanced Tab Processing feature has been added to the Restaurant module. With this new feature users can split orders / tabs into seats. Each seat representing a person. Each person now can pay his own bill (seat) within a group order (tab), which is displayed at the bill and receipt.
Changed		Numerous improvements made to receipts printing within the Restaurant module: - Receipts have been split into two entities - receipts and bills - A new tip workflow has been introduced. If user writes a tip amount on the bill, it will affect the total of the receipt (merchant and customer copy) printed at the end of transaction - Both receipts and bills are printed automatically after each Tab payment (for example, when one Tab is paid by 3 different CC cards by 3 people)
Changed		Improvement made to the discount logic. It is currently assigned to a specific seat.

Hardware

New		A new feature has been added. It is now possible to manage the following hardware settings from SmartPOS at Settings > System Settings: System Unit, Printer, Cash Drawer, Customer Display, Scanner, Credit Card Processor.
Changed		Hardware improvement made to all SmartPOS100 devices. This model now has a new SSD hard drive.

Price Book Screen

Changed

Improvement made to the lottery departments. Currently when the Instant payout lottery type is selected, the Allow negative transactions option is selected automatically and then becomes unavailable at the Price Book > Departments > Create New Department.

Settings

Changed

Improvement made to the System Settings. It is now possible to send to CStoreOffice® the following data: statistics on SmartPOS performance data and daily SmartPOS data backups.

Video Journal

New		SmartPOS devices are now compatible with the latest model of Direct Connect - DC 501 for storing Video Journal records.
Changed		Improvement made to the recorded videos storage procedure. Recorded videos are now stored for calendar 30 days.
Changed		Improvement made to the Video Journal access. It is currently possible to restrict access to Video Journal for the specific user via user permission settings.

Other

New		A new feature has been added. It is now possible to switch to the Portuguese interface language at Settings > System Settings > Locale > Portuguese (Brazil) > restart.
New		A new feature has been added. Spanish virtual keyboard has been implemented for Spanish interface.
Changed		Minor improvement made to the Export History screen. Currently for the PJR format data, the Date column displays the transaction date and time.

SmartPOS 2.6

User Interface New Items, Changes, Improvements

This section contains the information on the POS software and hardware new features and changes in scope of the current release version - 2.6 for the Java environment.

Main Cashier's Workspace

Changed		Minor usability improvement made to the process of receipt printing from the History tab. Currently when the no sale transaction is selected under History, the printing button is disabled.
Changed		Improvement made to the process of working with favorite items feature. Currently it is possible to search for the item you want to add to favorite or place to the top by scanning it.

Reports

Changed

Improvement made to the cashier's shift report: promotion and discount information is currently included into the report.

Price book / MOPS / Lottery

Changed		Improvement made to the Price Book backup process. Previously it was backed up after the PB update. Currently it is backed up 10 minutes after any changes are made to the POS Price Book.
Changed		Lottery type settings have been added at Price Book screen > Departments > edit > Lottery Type.

Settings

POS settings screen has been redesigned to fit more settings.

Back-Office

New		A new feature added to back-office interaction process. Item size field changes made on POS are currently pushed to the back-office Price Book.
New		A new promotion type has bee added at Price Book > Promotions > create new or edit > How much section? > House Account Promotion. This new promotion type is designed to be applied for the House Account promotions and fuel loyalty programs.
New		SmartPOS devices have been made compatible with the third-party back-office systems.
Changed		Improvement made to the data backup process. Once connected to back-office, the backup data is pushed to back-office 10 minutes after any changes were made to items, departments, taxes, MOPs

Other

Changed		Usability improvement made to the scrolling process. Scrolling by touch has been enabled for all lists which needs to scroll.
Changed		Improvement made to the cashier's shift report: promotion and discount information is currently included into the report.

QwickServe

New		A new user role - Waiter - has been introduced. The role has bee customized the following way: waiters don't occupy a cash drawer when clocking in; no sale option is disabled for waiters; cash drawer don't open for waiters.
New		A new order type has been added. QwickServe orders are currently displayed under Tabs. They have a car icon on them and can have driver assigned to them.
Changed		Improvement to the business logic of the food service within SmartPOS. QwickServe Embedded and Restaurant / Bar have been split into separate modules.
Changed		Improvement made to the process of QwickServe interaction. Currently when the QwickServe is disabled on the back-office side, it disappears from the placeholders.

SmartPOS 2.5

User Interface New Items, Changes, Improvements

This section contains the information on the POS software and hardware new features and changes in scope of the current release version - 2.5 for the Java environment.

Main Cashier's Workspace

New		A new feature - House Accounts processing - has been added at Cashier's screen. It is now possible to pay for purchases via House Account MOP as well as replenish the card via the pay in feature.
New		A new ability to enter pay ins to replenish the House Account balance has been added at the Cashier's screen.
New		A new feature has been added at the cashier’s screen. It is now possible to calculate the on hand quantity of the sale item.
New		A new feature has been added at the cashier’s screen. It is now possible to add an item to the Price Book on the go when the scanned item is absent from the Price Book. Can be turned on the back-office side.
New		A new feature has been added at the cashier’s screen. It is now possible to apply discounts - fixed or percentage - to a specific sale or item. The discounts are set on the Price Book settings screen.
Changed		Credit card method of payment has been disabled for the pay in operations.
Changed		Improvement made to the refund process. It is now possible to refund the transactions payed by EBT FS MOP.
Changed		Minor usability improvement to the process of working with House Account transactions. Once the House Account payment is canceled on the transaction dialog, it is automatically canceled in the basket.
Changed		Improvement made to the refund process. It is now possible to refund the PLU items without scanning.

Price book / MOPS / Lottery

Changed

Improvement made to promotions setup on the back-office side. It is possible to set the days of the week for the promotion to take place.

Settings

Changed		Minor usability improvement made to the Sales Data Export settings. This option do export the sales data in PJR format is currently disabled unless the Journal Data Export option is selected.
Changed		Minor usability improvement made to the user permissions. If user has no refund permission, the refund by PLU permissions is disabled automatically.
Changed		Improvement made to the system settings. It is now possible to set the time frame after which system logs the user out automatically on condition there are no activity on the device.
Changed		Improvement made to the MOP settings. It is now possible to specify the MOP type - cash or non cash - in the UI at Settings screen > MOPs > create new or edit existing > Type.
Changed		Improvement made to the age verification procedure settings. It is now possible to limit age verification to ID scanning only without the ability to enter it manually.

Back-Office

New		A new feature added to back-office interaction process. It is now possible to set the house account transaction limit and credit limit. These new parameters are set on CStoreOffice® and are imported to SmartPOS with the Price Book update.
New		A new feature added to back-office interaction process. It is now possible to export the House Account transactions data into the shift reports at CStoreOffice®.

Other

Changed		Improvement made to the on hand inventory. It has been hidden from the customer's display.
Changed		Improvement to the shift report. Pay in amount is currently displayed in the shift report.

Hardware

This section contains the information on the POS software and hardware new features and changes in scope of the current release version - 2.4 for the Java environment.

Main Cashier's Workspace

New		A new feature has been added. It is now possible to manage tabs (orders) by adding prepay, tips, assigning waiter and seats.
New		A new feature has been added. It is now possible to add tips to a transaction.
Changed		Improvement made to the process of actions with limited permissions. Currently if user doesn't have the necessary permission, he is provided with the list of managers who can do it. There is no need for the current user to log out.
Changed		Improvement made to the search functionality. It is now a single search field for all tabs.
Changed		Improvement made to way the EBT FS MOP works. The Allow Cash Back option is currently disabled for this MOP.

Reports

Changed

Improvement made to the History tab. Previously it showed only sale transactions. Currently it also shows payout, safe drops and no sale events.

Price Book / MOPS / Lottery

Changed		Improvement made to the Food Stamp MOP. It is now possible to use FS for the sales by department (department must be EBT eligible).
Changed		Improvement made to the lottery sales. The state of Oklahoma lottery is now supported.
Changed		Improvement has been made to the EBT FS MOP settings. It is now possible to enable the secondary PIN pad for this option.
Changed		Improvement made to the department settings. A new Allow EBT option has been added at Settings > Departments > edit.
Changed		Improvement to the MOP settings. It is now possible to disable and remove from favorites all MOPs except for Cash and Credit.
Changed		Improvement made to Price Book performance. Currently, if the items are linked or unlinked on CStoreOffice® side, SmartPOS inherits the CStoreOffice® changes when updating Price Book.

New		A new feature has been added. It is now possible to switch to the Spanish interface language at Settings > POS Settings > Locale > Spanish > restart.
Changed		Usability improvement made to the process of entering and editing price and percent values on all fields: a cursor and the value place-holder is now displayed.
Changed		Improvement made to the receipt printing. It is now possible to print receipts for only credit card transactions greater or equal to a specific amount. Set at Settings > Receipt Settings.
Changed		Improvement made at Settings > General Info. Price Book last update info is now displayed. Price Book update events are now displayed on the transaction logs.
Changed		Improvement to the process of working with users. It is now possible to select the user's role on the SmartPOS side at Settings > Users > Role.

Main Cashier's Workspace

Changed		Improvement to the main input field (for entering UPC, price etc.) Currently if user enters 0 as a first number, system interprets the whole number as a UPC.
Fixed		Fixed an issue with scrolling at the login screen.
Fixed		Fixed an issue with editing the cash amounts when working with paypoints.
Fixed		Fixed an issue with the ability to add more items to the sale while waiting for the customer to swipe the credit card.

Changed		Minor improvement has been made to the report uploading process. Currently user gets notification on the successful upload.
Changed		Improvement made to the Reports screen. Currently when user is trying to change day or shift and there are no open shifts or days for the existing period, he is prompted about the empty reports about to be sent to back-office in this case.
Changed		Several improvements made to the lottery inventory report - currently the report is sent automatically after the Done button is pressed; it is also possible to send the report to back-office manually by pressing the icon for uploading.

Price Book

New		A new MOP - EBT FS (Food Stamp) - is now available at SmartPOS.
Changed		Improvement made to Settings > POS Settings > Calculate Tax. It is now possible to select how to calculate taxes - before of after discounts.
Changed		Improvement made to the MOP settings. A new Allow Cash Back option has been added at Price Book Settings > MOPs > select a MOP > edit.
Changed		Improvement made to the departments' logic. It is currently not possible to delete a department containing items.

Main Cashier's Workspace

Changed		Improvement made to the refund functionality. Currently it is possible to refund several items with the same UPC using @/for button.
Fixed		Fixed an issue with the system showing the incorrect amount left in the cash drawer after performing drops.

Price Book

Changed		Improvement made to the Price Book section of SmartPOS. It is currently possible to edit the size column at Price Book > Items > Edit.

This section contains the information on the POS software and hardware new features and changes in scope of the current release version - 2.1 for the Java environment.

Main Cashier's Workspace

New		A new feature for creating placeholders for departments, items and softkeys, and add them to favorites has been added at Cashier Screen > Departments Tab > press and hold any department.
Changed		Improvement made at Cashier Screen > Departments Tab > Search. It has been made possible to search by department.
Changed		Improvement to the handling negative transactions logic. Currently all the MOP buttons except for "0.00"are disabled during the negative transactions.
Changed		Improvement has been made to the refund process. Currently it is possible to cancel the refund process.

Price Book

Changed		Improvement made at Price Book Screen > Items > List for selecting department. It has been made possible to search for department.
Fixed		Fixed an issue with deleting department taxes at Price Book Screen > Departments.

Changed		Improvement made to the SmartPOS Help in Java. It has been made context-sensitive. Pressing the help icon currently leads to the necessary section depending on the screen where it was pressed.

Improvement has been made to the video journal event handling. The Day Changed and Shift Changed events has been split into Day Opened and Day Closed Shift Opened and Shift Closed.

SmartPOS 2.0

User Interface New Items, Changes, Client Reported Bugs

This section contains the information on the POS software and hardware new features and changes in scope of the current release version - 2.0 for the Java environment.

Logging In

New

A new turn off button has been added to the screen for logging in.

Main Cashier's Workspace

New		Loyalty program is now supported by the SmartPOS register: points, fuel discounts, ability to select the loyalty program if available.
Changed		Minor improvement has been made to the Qty column at the Cashier screen. The column has been made wider.
Changed		Improvement has been made to the printed receipt. A new Total Items Sold line has been added to the receipt.
Changed		Minor improvement made to the process of scanning errors handling. Currently a cashier is not able to proceed with scanning the next item until the current error message is closed.
Changed		Improvement made at Cashier Screen > Departments Tab > Search. It has been made possible to search by the item name.
Changed		Improvement made at Cashier Screen > Departments Tab > Search. It has been made possible to search for item by scanning a barcode.

Price Book

New		A new ability to create linked items has been added at Price Book screen > Items > create new > Linked Items section.
Changed		Improvement has been made at Price Book screen > Items. Previously the number of fees assigned to an item/department wad limited to 3. Currently this limitation has been removed.
Changed		Improvement made to the process of selling a lottery item. When the lottery module is off for the register, it is currently treated like a regular item.

Settings

New		A new Export Journal Data option has been added to the Settings screen. With this option on, the following data is sent to back-office: Sale Refund, Void, Sale Pay-outs, Safe drops, Day Change, Shift Change, Pay Point Open, Pay Point Close, No Sale.
New		A new ability to change the time zone has been added to the Settings screen. Having changed the time zone, you need to reboot the device.
Changed		Minor improvement made to the process of refreshing the device at Settings screen > General Information > Device Statuses. Previously when refreshing the device information, the register used to freeze. Currently this action does not affect the device performance.
Changed		Minor improvement has been made at Settings screen > System Settings > PIN Pad IP. Limitation to the character quantity has been applied to this field.

Back-Office

New

A new promotion type based on the percentage discount - Percent promotion - has been added to the SmartPOS registers.

Software

New

SmartPOS400 is now available on Ubuntu.

Hardware

A new Games (lottery setup form) tab is now available in Java version at Price Book screen > Games.

QwickServe Integration
