Getting Started

Before you start installing and configuring SmartPOS, make sure you have all the equipment in place.

Aside from the SmartPOS itself, you might need the following devices:

To install the SmartPOS cash register at your location:

1. Choose a good spot.

   

1. Petrosoft recommends you assemble the SmartPOS in the final spot where you intend to use this cash register.
2. Start by finding and unpacking the cash drawer and all auxiliary cables.
3. Place the cash drawer in the spot where you intend to keep the cash register.
2. (Optional) Protect your equipment.

   

Petrosoft HIGHLY recommends plugging all SmartPOS equipment into a surge protector and NOT directly into the wall outlet.

3. Cash drawer and printer.

   

1. Find the RJ22 to RJ22 cable that came with the receipt printer. This cable resembles an Ethernet cable but the cable ends are much smaller.
2. Plug one end of the RJ22 cable into the port on the bottom of the cash drawer and the other end into the back of the receipt printer.
3. Plug the receipt printer into the surge protector using the power cord.
   

Result: The cash drawer is connected to the receipt printer. The receipt printer is connected to the power supply.

4. Printer and cash register.

   

1. Find the USB to USB cable that came with the receipt printer.
2. Plug one end of the USB cable into any open USB port on the bottom of the SmartPOS.
3. Plug the other end of the USB cable into the USB port on the back of the printer.
   

Result: The receipt printer is connected to SmartPOS.

5. Scanner and cash register.

   

1. Place the barcode scanner in a convenient position for scanning items.
2. Connect one end of the scanner’s USB cable to the barcode scanner.
3. Run the scanner’s USB cable through the back panel of the SmartPOS unit to the front.
4. Connect the other end of the scanner’s USB cable to any available USB port on the back panel of the SmartPOS unit.
   

Result: The barcode scanner is connected to SmartPOS.

6. Connect SmartPOS to internet.

   

1. Find the internet router or a network switch connected to your internet router.
2. Run an Ethernet cable from any open port on your router / network switch to the network port located on the bottom of the SmartPOS.
7. Turning on your SmartPOS.

   

1. Plug the SmartPOS into the surge protector.
2. Find and hold the silver power button on the base of the SmartPOS until the unit turns on.
   

Result: SmartPOS turns on.

To activate your SmartPOS, follow these steps:

1. If you have not downloaded the Retail360 app earlier, you can scan the QR code in the lower left part of the SmartPOS screen to download the app. Alternatively, download it from App Store or Google Play.

   

2. After installing the Retail360 app, do one of the following:
3. If you already have the CStoreOffice® or Retail 360 subscription, use the credentials of your CStoreOffice® or Retail 360 account to log in to the Retail360 app. For details, see Logging into the Retail360 app.
4. If you have no CStoreOffice® or Retail 360 subscription and have not logged into the Retail360 app earlier, sign up for the Retail360 app first. For details, see Signing up for the Retail360 app. Then, log in to the Retail360 app using the created account.
3. In the top menu of the Retail360 app, swipe left and select Devices.
4. In the devices list, tap Activate a New Device.
   

   The Add a New Device button hides as you swipe the devices list up. To reveal this button, swipe down the list. The button appears as you reach the list top.

   

5. Do one of the following:
6. If you have several locations, tap the location where the device is installed.

   

7. If you have only one location, go to the next step as this location will be chosen automatically.
6. Scan the QR code in the lower left part of the screen of your SmartPOS device with the camera of your mobile device.

   
   Result: The SmartPOS screen with the location name and MAC address appears.
   

7. In the bottom menu, select Connect to Petrosoft Cloud and swipe up.
8. Make sure the SmartPOS device is installed and connected properly.
9. In the bottom menu, select Start Connection and swipe up.

   

10. Wait up to 5 minutes for your SmartPOS device to connect to the Petrosoft Cloud.

    

11. When your SmartPOS device successfully connects to the Petrosoft Cloud, the status will change from In Progress to Connected.

    
    Result: After successful activation, the QR code on the screen of your SmartPOS device changes as well.
