Performing Split Tender Transactions
SmartPOS supports split tender transactions for payments made over the Cayan gateway. With split tender transactions, customers can use different MOPs to complete a payment. For example, a customer can pay the balance partially with a card and then pay the remainder with cash.
Split tender transactions for payments over the Cayan gateway can be initiated in two ways:
- By the cashier: this type of split payment transaction occurs if a customer wants to pay for items using two or more MOPs. In this case, the cashier processes the transaction as split payment.
- By SmartPOS: this type of split payment transaction occurs if a customer wants to pay the whole amount with a card over the Cayan gateway, but the payment amount exceeds the card floor limit. In this case, SmartPOS automatically adds the amount approved by Cayan to the basket. The transaction remainder must be paid with another MOP.
To perform a split tender transaction over the Cayan gateway:
- On the cashier's screen, add items to the item queue in a usual way.
- Enter the amount that you want to pay over the Cayan gateway and press Card.
- Enter the amount that you want to pay with another MOP and press the corresponding MOP button.
- Complete the split payment transaction in a usual way.
If you want to remove the card MOP from a split tender transaction, on the cashier's screen, press Cancel.
