Specifying Printing Settings

This section describes the prerequisites and settings necessary for successful check printing.

Prerequisites

Make sure that you have Adobe Reader, version 6 or higher. Download the recent version of the Adobe Reader.

Setting Up Your Printer

To set up your printer, follow the steps:

  1. In CStoreOffice®, go to Transactions > Banking > Print Checks.
  2. From the Company list, select the company.
  3. In the checks list, select the check and then click Setup.
  4. Make sure your printer meets the following requirements:
  5. Printer is turned on.
  6. Printer is connected to your computer.
  7. Printer is configured.
  8. Printer is loaded with special preprinted checks. For more information on how to obtain the preprinted checks, contact your bank representative.
  9. In the Print Check Setup window, select the check type:
  10. Standard
  11. Voucher

For more details, see Preprinted Check Formats Compatible with CStoreOffice®.

  1. Print a sample check on the blank paper. To do this, click Print Sample.

To facilitate the alignment process, the sample check is printed with the grid. Each cell of the grid makes 1/100th of an inch.

  2. Make sure that besides the default printer settings you are using the actual size of the PDF document with no scaling or resizing, and that the page source is chosen by the PDF page size.

  1. Verify the settings and click the Print icon or right-click anywhere in the preview area and select Print to print the sample.
  1. Check the text alignment. To do this, take a blank check page, place the printed sample on top of it, align the paper edges, and hold them both to the light.
  1. If the alignment is correct, click Save and continue printing.

Fixing Alignment

When you print checks, you can come across the following problems:

  1. Text is out of position: In the Print Check Setup window, use the Up\Down and Left\Right fields to make adjustments and move the text 1/100th of an inch. Then print a sample check again.
  2. Date is out of position: In the In the Print Check Setup window, click the If the date is out of position link and make the adjustments to move text 1/100th of an inch. Then print a sample check again.

One cell of the grid has 10 points, which is 1/10th of an inch. One click on the arrow button moves the text 1 point, which equals 1/100th of an inch.

Once the alignment is correct, click Save and continue printing.

Preprinted Check Formats Compatible with CStoreOffice®

In general, you can use the same preprinted check formats that are compatible with QuickBooks. There are two types of preprinted checks that you use in CStoreOffice®:

  • Standard: 3 per page.

  • Voucher: check on top.
